Private tuition Kazafy

Opportunity for 7 private classes in blocks of 30 minutes for soloists. Based on participants own choreography of up to 5 minutes, Kazafy will critique dance style & movement technique, stage presence, performance & the choreographic work, offering suggestions for improvement.

SATURDAY 31 MAY

Saturday Workshop Kazafy

Class size limited to 30 participants
The workshops have been designed to be multilevel starting with teaching basic Egyptian Oriental technique and increasing the level of difficulty in technique when using combinations.
On Saturday there will be no choreography. Instead Kazafy will focus on dance movement technique, music interpretation and stagecraft combined with drilling, constructive correction and feedback during combinations of increasing levels of difficulty with technique variations, modifications & layering. During the well earned break Kazafy will draw from his extensive collection of archival materials and experience to share his insights into Egyptan Dance, music & culture through DVD’s and question & answers.

Kazafy, known as Egypt’s rising superstar, has been a member of the world famous Reda troupe of Egypt for 17 years, performing in dozens of countries worldwide. He is still one of their principal soloists.

Mohamed Kazafy is a regular teacher at the Nile Group Festival in Egypt and is in constant demand throughout the world for workshops and performances. In 2007 an incredible 1500 students attended his single workshop in Argentina.

Techniques and combinations for contemporary Egyptian Oriental Dance. Extend your ability to execute the precise, dynamic, flowing and clear emotive movements unique to Egyptian dance. Add these to Kazafy’s complex step combinations and direction changes for challenge and fun.

Techniques and combinations for drum solos.
Kazafy is a master of Egyptian rhythms and accents. His original interpretation of movement/rhythm links and attention to precise technique and perfect timing helps any drum solo to be a memorable performance.

Galabaya Party

Get dressed up and meet the master teacher Kazafy at our intimate Galabeya Party. Have fun dancing to the live music and enjoy performances by local Egyptian style dancers.

SUNDAY 1 JUNE

Sunday Workshops Kazafy

Class size is limited to 30 participants.
Sunday workshops are similarly structured to Saturday but will instead look at choreography as a piece of Art and will use the morning work to create a choreography in the afternoon. As well as technique the focus will be on use of the stage, lighting, costume, props and effects with attention to Saiidi and working with a double cane.

Technique modifications and variations in creating choreography for Theatrical Egyptian Dance.
Bring veil & 2 canes, This is an exciting opportunity to work with a true professional in Egyptian Oriental Theatrical Dance, extending your personal performance excellence.

Use techniques and combinations from the morning to produce a complete theatre ready Oriental Dance Theatrical Creation. As teachers and students the insights and inspirations gained from this experience can definitely enhance your dance, performance and teaching repertoire.

Based on participants own choreography of up to 5 minutes, Kazafy will critique dance style & movement technique, stage presence, performance & the choreographic work, offering suggestions for improvement.
